self portrait

This is me in my dorm, on my bed where you can usually find me. I am always in my room with my friends and I always have my laptop on me. I made sure the pictures of my friends back home were in this picture because I can not have a picture of myself without them.

Burt's Bees

Burt’s Bees is a well known manufacturer of personal care products. The company was started more than 25 years ago in Maine. At this time Burt’s Bees makes more than 150 products for their customers. Their products are available in the United States and their website.
Burt’s made their first Facebook page in 2009 and that is where their adventure into social media began because before that, their company was made popular due to word of mouth. Facebook allows them to communicate with their customers and have a common ground to encourage the development of the company. In June 2011, Burt’s Bees was ready to launch a new product and they went right to Facebook for help. They launched the “Lips go Bloom” campaign on Facebook at the same time their new tinted lip balms were coming out. They made the campaign fun and interactive. The company wanted the campaign to be on Facebook so they could get word out about the new product directly to their customers.

This campaign was very successful because Burt’s Bees knew exactly how to advertise. Facebook is the perfect place to advertise a new product because it can spread so quickly. They also knew exactly when to launch new products so it can coincide with the Facebook page.

Enchanted Makeovers

Enchanted Makeovers is an internationally recognized non-profit organization that rebuilds women and children's shelters. There are programs for the women to gain self esteem and learn to live on their own. This program uses social web well because there website is easy to access and has a lot of information. The links on the page are easy to use and they also have an option to make a donation online. The website also works as a blog for the organization because they update it with new information. Also the owners can post information that any one can comment on but the viewer can also post any information they wish to share. Enchanted Makeovers also gives you all of the information you need to contact them. This organization recently was invited to be apart of an online newsletter called The Creative Connection, which will add to the online advertisement that Enchanted Makeovers already has.
